Any tips for booking West Coast ?

We have been quoted for a trip on the west coast to include 2 nights in Vegas. It is for 5 of us ( 2 adults 3 kids )for 16 days visiting SF ,LA , San Diego and LV .But £8600 ! I have friend doing a similar itinerary with 4 adults at the same time for 5k .Does that sound alot or am I just being tight fisted ?

That does sound a lot to me Carys. I am used to the expense of Florida in the school summer holidays and if anything I found California slightly cheaper when I did online booking with Virgin Holidays? And I would not spend anything like £9k I assure you - think of what Icould get in Tiffany & Co for that

This isn't much use to you I doubt as I haven't actually ever booked (!)) but for what it's worth...

ETA Just a thought - it isn't doing something silly because there are 5 of you like booking an extra hotel room at each destination? That would add to the price.

Edited at 11:51 PM. Reason: Just thought of something

What time of year are you going? Is LV at the weekend or mid-week there is a bit difference in price for the rooms. California is expensive though we found that last year.

That is a lot of money , I think you need to shop around and/or look into booking it independantly. We were originally looking into doing a guided trip on a train or a coach for 3 weeks and the prices were ridiculous, so we decided to plan and book it all ourselves.

With our flights (Virgin PE there & back), 3 weeks of hotels and car hire (SUV) we are looking at paying around £3500 for the 2 of us, that's at the current exchange rate for the hotels. Then we have our spending money and show tickets/trips to pay for before we go. Still that would come to nowhere near you've been quoted and that's with spends included.

I would advise you to do some research and save some money, you just need to find the hotels with family rooms. I know that other people have managed it on here, so you could too with some advice.
