Heyyyyy just found your trippie! Sounds like you'll have a great time. The last two times we have been to nyc we did a wtc memorial tour. The first time was with are d&v cross worker. The second was with a lady who volunteered and a gentleman called Vic who had been the building security manager for the towers for twenty years and survived both the 1993 attacks and the 2001 attacks. His storiesw ere just incredibly sad. You get so much from doing the tour, that human perspective is so important. Enjoy!

As we're flying with BA and haven't paid to pre-book our seats we won't find out where we're sat until we do online check in. As long as I get a window seat I'll be happy.

I think the human perspective is so important too as it actually hits home that the names listed are someone's father, mother, sister, brother, husband, wife etc. etc.

One of my cousins actually worked in the financial district during that time at the Goldman Sachs tower which is opposite the WTC site. His stories are equally sad as he saw both towers go down

Big Apple Greeter

Mini Update

Sorry guys I was going to do an update on Friday but I came down with a cold

As it was getting nearer and nearer to May I was starting to get a little stressed on whether we would get matched with a greeter. We finally heard back from Big Apple Greeter on Thursday to say that our request for a greeter has been successful I'm super excited and looking very much forward to it. Our greeter's name is Robert but as of yet I have no idea which area of NYC he'll be taking us around.

Ideally we would meet our greeter on the first full day we're there (Friday 9th) but as I've already booked SoL and 9/11 memorial tickets we'll be meeting him on the Monday instead.

Now I need to think of a nice gift we can give him (all Big Apple Greeters are volunteers). If anyone has any suggestions on something British themed that would be greatly appreciated.

My update on restaurants we're planning on eating at and snacks we will be in search of will be coming real soon. I've had to tweak our reservations slightly and I am still waiting to hear back from one restaurant but hopefully that update will be at the weekend.

Next Update: Food Glorious Food (Restaurants and snacks)

Didn't have time to do a food update in the end but will do a food 'teaser' of all the places we did visit before I write up the full trip report. It's today! Clearly too excited to sleep!
