We go on the 9th- staying in Long Island City. It's a bit further out but the apartments sleep 5 and we get breakfast too. I still need to do an itinerary- we want to do ESB, ToTR, Central Park, 911 Memorial, Grand Central Station, Statue of Liberty, to name a few - oh and a spot of shopping - I can't wait 😃

Where are you staying?
We're staying in the Lombardy Hotel on E56th St.
One World, TOTR & ESB all booked. Might go to see the Rockettes.

Just need to find somewhere to eat on Christmas Day. We have a few places in mind, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sorry to hijack you're thread, I'm off to NY in 9 days time, so not quite December! I'm busy preparing my itinerary as we speak. Just wanted to say hi and hopefully I can help with any questions anyone may have when I return? I've just booked a Jets game for us on 12th Nov and busy planning Intrepid and TOTR tickets, Sam

I know someone there for Christmas too.. As I just mentioned in another reply.. It sounds amazing!
We were meant to be staying in my uncles apartment but he has just sold it. I'm gutted, it was beautiful - and huge! After a scramble around on Expedia (and a lot of crying at the prices), we booked to stay in new apartments that have been built for short term lets. We are just off Wall Street in the Financial District. We have 3 studio apartments which will give us a lot more space as we are there for 10 days and will want to chill out a bit. Breakfast is also included which is a bonus.

I hope you have a fantastic trip!

We originally wanted to go to one of the Heartland Brewery restaurants, but can't seem to book them yet(if they are open?). Also looked at the Rock Center Café at the Rockefeller, it's a bit more expensive but looks like a nice place to have a meal on Christmas Day.
Have a look at Open Table

Having never been before we are just doing all the usual touristy things, not sure how we are going to fit it all in! We haven't decided yet on if we should get hop off hop on bus tickets or use the subway ? Also looking at tours available, again can't decide if we should do that or just do our own thing. Are you doing one of those 'pay what it's worth tours of Greenwich' ? 3 days is just not going to long enough 😊
Sounds good, the thing I like about Top of the Rock in the morning is that it opens at 8am & if you get there for then there isn't really a queue or there wasn't when we did this.

If you were going to do One World Observatory at sunset I'd probably try to get there about 30 minutes before so you could see both.

We did a hop on hop off bus last year, we booked an offer on Groupon - I'd have a look if you wanted to book one. We booked Big yellow taxi tours I think. The bus driver saw us the next day & offered us a lift, he shouted out the window to us as it was early, and said you were on here yesterday to which we said yes & then asked if we needed a lift.. we were ok as we were just going to Central park & were nearly there, but thought how nice that was.

Subway was easy to use - even for us. We'll be using it again this time. Much easier than the London underground - we found anyway!

We have booked a street art tour with Hush Tours which I booked ages ago. Also booked Greenwich village & a tour of SoHo Little Italy & China town with Free Tours on foot. Thought we would try them out as you tip anyway so this seems like a good option..

We've booked Ice Skating in Central park too..

The rest we will kind of do ourselves

Sounds great! Are you going to climb to the crown? We did this last time we went, which I'm glad we did.

You'll have some great views of the skyline from your hotel hopefully
