Drip cakes

Can any bakers help?
We a have a family bake off via zoom this week (seemed a good idea at the time)
As it’s all about look and presentation I’ve decided to try a drip cake. Are they easy or am I better doing something else?

Very easy!
I make loads! What flavours are you going for? Have you got a picture of exactly what you’re hoping for?

I have thousands of pag3s open on my iPad. I saw this one but I was going to change the decoration oetker/uk-en/recip...nade-drip-cake
I should add that the taste won’t really matter as it’s all on looks and presentation as we will be hosting the final online 😂

This Black Forest is probably my current favourite.
The drip was a bit haphazard as I was rushing and used a spoon.

Not sure why my message posted twice?
That will be easy.
Have you got colourings and sprinkles, piping bags etc already?

I have piping bags and some colours/decorations but I’m currently filling a basket for an Ocado order on Friday!
Do you make a 3 tier sponge? That’s the bit that worries me!

My dd made this for my birthday last year and followed a recipe. She was only 16 and just watches you tube so hopefully it can’t be that hard

I tend to do 3 or 4 layers.
If you want to drip with white chocolate ganache you’ll need very little cream.
With dark you’ll need about 80g chocolate and 100ml double cream.
Whipping cream is more stable and will give a smoother finish but with white chocolate you might find it’s too runny

I think it will be white chocolate. Could I then colour it pink?
I am a beginner but enthusiastic if nothing else 😂
