ecv hire in florida
last time we went (2009) DS used Dad's wheelchair a lot when he was tired/overloaded etc... sometimes sitting in it with umbrella over him to block the sensory out probably used it more than Dad.
This year Dad isn't going with us and DS has said he doesn't want to use a wheelchair. I'm really wanting to take Dad's wheelchair, as Dad only needed it for WDW due to walking/arthritis and doesn't use it here at home, but DS says no and DH said we should go for it and just take loads of rests. I can see this being a "I told you so" experience, but we will go without the WChair, just wondering what options are there when out there for ecv/wheelchair hire as it can be expensive in the parks? just in case it goes pear shaped. many thanks Ruth |

I dont know how old your son is but I am sure that you have to be 16 to hire an ECV from anywhere in Florida.
There are quite a few places offsite where you can hire a wheelchair from. They are listed in the sticky at the top of the Special Needs forum.

Hi
I think it costs between $10 - $12 for wheelchair hire at the parks each day and you have to leave a deposit. The ECV I think varies at different parks also and is between $35 and $50 a day. |

I think it's also worth mentioning that the ECV's and wheelchairs at Disney are hired on a first come first serve basis so if they run out you may be a bit stuffed if you pardon the expression... although I don't know how many they have in the first place.
I think there is a bit in the sticky section on ECV's, wheelchairs and hire companies... |
