Dumplings for us
I never ate any type of “ comfort “ food until I got married as DH loves traditional food.
Stouvlees is a Belgian beer beef stew that is thickened with Crusty bread spread with mustard it’s divine .Dh has just requested it for the weekend .

My mum makes the best stew. The secret ingredient is a sachet of minestrone simmer soup added an hour or 2 before serving!

We always have with mash the first day and sometimes yorkies or dumplings. Then the second day is with homemade chips and brown sauce.

We're getting our kitchen renovated and I said to my OH earlier 'I'm making stew as soon as the kitchen is sorted'.

My OH is the same. He said the onions and carrots makes it too sweet!

Mash for me! I’ve never served a stew with yorkies but might try this next time

Can’t wait for proper cold weather so I can dust off the slow cooker

Potatoes (proper or sweet) in their jackets.
Always tastes better in a bowl than on a plate too.
