Laptop enter key not working

The enter key on the laptop isn't working. It goes down (so not stuck down) but nothing happens.

All other keys ok. Have tried compressed air on it. No joy.

It's used mainly for dds school work so a bit of a disaster if I can't get it working.

Any ideas?

Oh dear that's not good
Can you flip it off carefully and check to see if there's a cake crumb or a bit of fluff underneath it? Turn it off first lol
I don't have a lappy so not sure how they're put together - I have a pc with keyboard and my keys do flip off

Not sure what to suggest to fix it, but you can use Control + M as an alternative to the enter key on some keyboard. Could it be a software update issue?

Check that all the other keys are working, sometimes if another key is stuck the enter key won't function. open a document and type all the keys.

if you haven't already remove power and battery for 30 seconds and then put battery back in and restart.

You can gently prise off the key top to see if there is some dirt stuck beneath, do a youtube search for removing laptop keys there are a few videos showing how this is done.

if using he alternate CONTROL + M doesn't work on your laptop then there are ways of remapping the enter key to another key, again do a google search for 'remapping enter key'.

apart from getting the laptop repaired you can in the meantime purchase a cheap wired or bluetooth keyboard and use that instead.

or even just a numeric keypad that would give you an enter key

Will give them a go and see what works.

Will hunt out old keyboard too as is an excellent inteeim.solution that I wouldn't have thought of !

None of the options worked unfortunately.
DS has thrown away the old keyboard so have ordered a new el-cheapy which she can use.

Will see if I can fix it or poss replace it after all the restrictions are lifted.

You can download a keyboard onto your computer and use the enter key that way ...think it might be swift key ?
