Deafness and Specialist Rooms

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone has stayed within a specialist room for deaf/hard of hearing people.

I am wondering if the additional equipment is worth calling up Disney and booking for.

Staying onsite in OKW Nov 2014.

Hi weve stayed in a room that had the equipment but as we did not require it, we didn't really pay attention.
We had a disabled room with a roll in shower, which is what we needed but it also had the extras.
Im not 100% sure what they had- I know they have a flashing light in case of fire.

They do have rooms without the roll in showers but with the hearing accessible extras.
If you need one of these rooms then its worth trying to book. I know the disabled rooms are limited, so theyre released on a first come basis.
heres the info as to what the rooms have

I had to vote 'not sure' as although we have stayed in fully accessible rooms which have had some equipment for hearing accessibility we've not needed to use it. The DVC booking site lists the following as available on request
Optional communication features, for Guests with Hearing Disabilities, include:
Visual alarm
Visual door knock/door bell alert
Visual telephone call alert
Telephone with volume control
Electrical outlet near telephone jack
TTY equipment available upon request at check-in
If you need it then surely it is worth reserving this type of room. There are a small number of accessible rooms so you do need to check when you book.
