Car roof storage

Looking at trying to give my car extra room for when we go on holiday. Has anyone used a car roof storage bag? They are a fraction of the price of a storage box. I wouldn’t be putting anything of any real value in there. What do you think?

Sorry can't advise with the car storage bag, but I am not sure if you know you can rent the storage boxes roofbox2hire/roof-box-hire-fees/
There did seem to be a lot on google so maybe there is one near you.

I got a Thule roof bag which goes on the roof rack. Got in when going back and forth to childrens Uni accommodation. So much easier to store in the garage than a big roof box (can roll it up when not in use!). Super tough and zero wind noise as it's still aerodynamically shaped.

I am on a couple of camping pages and there have been a few posts where people have used the roof bags directly on the roof of their car - so not sat on any rails, and they have dented their car roof.

My son and his family use one of these bags when they go camping. They do borrow our neighbours roof bars though (they have the same model of car).

They have not had any bother with it and as DrMagical says storage is easy.
