I had two colleagues who had hip replacements in their 40s and both were happy to have it done and fine afterwards

I’ve had a consultation today, I’ve paid privately at one of the Spire clinics, the consultant agrees I need a THR, he did an X-ray and compared it to the one 2 years ago and it’s deteriorated quite a bit, I’ve now got to decide whether to join the NHS waiting list or pay privately, but even that it would be xmas before it would be done!

I was amazed that he said the operation only takes 50 minutes and you probably go home the same day!

I had my hip replacement at the beginning of April and went private using the money I had saved for my cancelled holiday. The hospital Isengard to was absolutely fabulous and I couldn’t have been treated better. The only problem was being able to get out and walk as much as I wanted so this is slightly delaying my complete recovery. I would underline that it is so important to get out and walk. I’m now walking so much better. My doctor advised me to use a walking stick. My local council came and inspected my home and gave me a handrail to get upstairs, a seat for in the shower and a trolley on wheels to move things from one room to another. I own my home so didn’t think I would be eligible for anything. Just be patient and it will be ok in the end

BM, I’ve now asked the consultant I saw to put me on his NHS waiting list, can I ask did your DH get any written confirmation when he was added to the list, or will I just get a call when I arrive towards the top of the list?
