When I made it for our daughter, who was a bit vegetable averse as a child, I used to add grated courgette and carrot to the mince. She never spotted it and it tasted great!

A square of dark chocolate 80% is a must. My sister in law is Mexican and its key.
Also never eat the day you make it, next day it comes into its own. |

I have eaten it many times in Mexico. It's always had chocolate in it. I didn't realise it wasn't Mexican.
Although to be fair my husband ate a lot of pizza in Thailand. Doesn't mean it's a thai dish 😁 Every day is a school day ! |

Chocolate and chilli in Mexican often paired in a mole poblano. No doubt it’s a great flavour combo, personally I like it either in a mole sauce or to add heat in a chocolate dessert.
