TV License

Any dibbers who don’t pay the tv license ? It’s something I’m considering as I watch very little tv anyway.

What can you watch, have you ever had a visit from the licensing people, how did that go.

Thanks

My son doesnt have a licence and doesnt watch TV, he has to do a declaration i think every 3 years and they say that they might visit you to check. He has never had a check.

I did this several years ago and have never regretted it.

I do as Bootrip says and have never had a visit.

You cannot watch or record programmes on any channel on a TV, computer or other device as they’re broadcast

Or download or watch BBC programmes on iPlayer ( live, catch up or on demand)

If you don't do any of that, then you can truthfully sign the declaration, and have no problems.

Edited to add that around 100,000 people are prosecuted every year. Though I believe it is no longer a criminal offence, it still gets you a fine.

I cancelled mine about 3 years ago, I did my second declaration a few months ago. Somebody visited about 20 months ago but I wasn’t in so they just left a letter, not been back since. Definitely worth it for me as I only stream from Netflix or Now tv.

We will be doing it shortly, never watch the bbc anymore and very little tv in general.
Look on youtube, plenty of advice if you get an inspector knock at your door

Haven't had a licence in years. Never been checked.

Sometimes I wish I had iPlayer for a small handful of BBC shows but that's the only thing I miss and quickly get over it. Too expensive for what you get considering I never watch live TV. Can get two streaming services for the same price.

I cancelled my TV licence about 2 years ago.

Truthfully we watched very little TV and I got fed up paying for my tv licence and sky so cancelled both of them.

We just watch YouTube, Netflix, and Disney +

I’ve done a declaration to say we don’t watch tv, haven’t had a visit from an inspector yet (but that could be because of Covid) but I wouldn’t have any worries about them coming round as we honestly don’t watch live tv.

I haven’t missed it

I accept without question the fact I have to pay Income Tax, VAT on stuff I buy and the other host of Local and National costs in order to keep the Country running.

However the one thing that infuriates me is the self serving, nose in the trough, spineless BBC executives and the arrogance with which they lord it over the population.

The sooner the BBC is prohibited from charging a fee the better. In the meantime every year I cough up their money through gritted teeth.
