Will, we be notified by email?

We’re not due to fly home till 2nd, but unsure how to progress if Thomas cook go under, haven’t a clue where to start/ what to do.

Do they email and the information we require will be on an email, do we wait to hear before we do anything.

Never been in this situation before.

Jules

Customers who booked a package holiday through Thomas Cook will be financially protected through the Atol scheme.

That means those already abroad will be able to continue with their holiday and an alternative flight home will be organised for them.

If you go to the ATOL website there is a list of companies by date who have gone bust. For each there’s instructions on what to do so TC will appear there if and when.

Looking at recent examples it appears people has to pay their hotel and claim it back and all flights remained the same times etc

I have spent the day calling and tweeting ATOL to find the process and all I got was “visit the website”

Problem is that we are running the risk of THOUSANDS of people visiting it and calling ATOL for guidance. For me right now, I can’t inagine they will be helpful at midnight in the UK

As I understand it you’ll have to claim via your credit card for a refund and rebook.

I’m so sorry this has happened.

We are away staying at Universal until saturday. Do we just carry on as usual staying here and arrange a new flight back for our original return day? Or will they make us leave before then?

Is it a package or flight only?

If it’s a package then ATOL will help you with accomodation and flights. In some circumstances they will move you to a different hotel. So when it’s announced check the CAA website for instructions.

I hope that’s true. It’ll make life easier for those who would otherwise be left to their own devices.
