I was just at the gym and my personal trainer is due to go to Vegas with his girlfriend in two weeks. They booked through Thomas Cook but the flight is Virgin and hotel the MGM. He is wondering if Virgin and the hotel will have been paid yet.

Well, I guess waiting to rebook only gives more time for price changes, so I'll have a look tonight when I get back from work and rebook if I can get a decent price... I count myself fortunate in that I'm only £800 in, just the deposit, and I'm far enough out that I'm hopefully insulated from any profiteering from Virgin (the most likely company I'll be booking with) or others. Hence why I couldn't be bothered staying up last night to rebook. I'm a little drained by this, can't imagine how others must be feeling.

I've made a note of packages in September 2020, if the prices go up by even a few hundred pounds I'm seriously considering sacking the whole lot and going somewhere else. This has put me right off tbh. That air bnb to Malta is looking more attractive now. Not like tour operators can point to their reliability anymore. Sigh. Had to vent I suppose... I'll be on here in about 12 hours announcing my rebooking with Virgin like the Orlando-addicted fool I am. If only those who lost their jobs could be so lucky.

Sad times for all involved (except the execs of course.)

It’s so sad, it doesn’t affect me directly but know people that were supposed to be going away, all those jobs lost & holidays cancelled, horrible situation
Thomas cook flight has just flown over my house, could see it plain as anything, I assumed it’s the Orlando to Manchester flight I felt really upset looking at it

It’s awful and this really demonstrates just how awful. Hopefully in a few days you will recover a bit and be able to go and have a fantastic holiday. You owe it yourself and the kids.

And if you need it I’m sure the DIBB will be here for suggestions on how to do Orlando with very little spending money!

Must have been a surreal experience, for customers and crew.

I'm not normally one for applauding on landing, but think this lot deserved it and then some.

Glad to hear you made it back OK. That must have been a strange flight for the crew, knowing they didn't have jobs to return to on landing.

After a stressful weekend I just want to say thank you to all you lovely Dibbers on here. I think i'd have gone insane without the Dibb throughout this! You all give great advice and are such a friendly community.

An awful situation for everyone, not least the TC staff who are waking up without jobs today. I'm still a little shocked that TC is no more!

We have managed to rebook BA flights last night before the prices hiked too much. We're hoping our hotel will be okay as advised yesterday. Airport hotel has been booked and I'm waiting on a response to see if the parking can be refunded/amended given the situation. I hope all of you others flying out soon have managed to get sorted.

Now need to pack my cases and get organised to leave for the airport on Wednesday, but still finding it difficult to get excited given how many people's lives have been changed this morning.
