Florida beaches in August?
We've been to Florida in August twice before. Both of these times we stayed onsite at Disney and Universal and only nipped to the beach for one day. We found the August sun a little too crazy at the beach and suffered with rain storms too. (drive to St Johns Pass was a washout!)
We are hoping to do a three week trip with a week at Disney and two weeks on the beaches of Naples and Anna Marie Island or maybe St Petes. We are a little worried about the heat during August. What are your tactics to avoid melting in the sun or being washed away by the thunder storms? A general 'what's it like in Naples or Anna Marie Island or St Petes in August' We've only been at Spring Break when it was absolutely lovely! If we go during Spring Break it'll be busier and we'll only be able to do two weeks but if the weather is a problem in August then we might be better off at Easter? |

Naples in particular can get bleeding hot, but we like it. I’ve had it so hot in Naples that you can’t sit outside under shade to eat as the sweat it literally dripping off you in seconds it can be that extreme. It’s great at the beach though. Also because it’s off season a lot of the fancy restaurants in the old town have very good deals on.

Same plan as Orlando. Get up early, get out and do outdoor things early and roll back to the villa early afternoon for some down-time. If the weather remains good, there's always the pool.
The Sarasota / Bradenton area (for example Anna Maria island and Siesta Key) always has a certain level of people but I'd avoid the beaches around the labor Day weekend.

Naples beach was EMPTY when we went in August! Fabulous for us, almost had the beach to ourselves. As previously stated, it’s very hot but the sea is so calm and clear we spent most of our time in there!

We found Naples beach absolutely packed in August when we visited for a couple of days, we didn’t really like Naples. a much preferred AMI, much more of a relaxed feel and not as busy.
We found Naples a bit ‘formal’, I think I am hugely biased toward AMI though, I love it 🥰 Advice, grab a pop up sun shelter, we got one from Walmart, we couldn’t stay in the beach for more than 10mins without it. ☀️ ☀️ Edited at 08:11 AM. |
