Dd and I used to go to hula hooping class, kind of like aerobics but with hoops and music... it was brilliant fun.
The hoops were weighted but oh my did I have bruises around my tummy and hip area.
I could keep it going and change direction but that was all..
Dd was a whizz at it ... but she can hula for hours with regular hoops anyway... I just stood at the back hooping away and laughing ... excellent fun and I quite fancy getting one now but certainly not with those knobbly bits on there...

I am convinced hula hoops are helping my waist - I’m a standard thick waisted shape (not fat but no way hourglass) and i know the hula hooping has me helped flatten .
I do 3 10 min sessions a week after running .
Persist it’s great for your abdominal organs too ! It gets easier I promise !
So agree with everything, the difference its made to my waist is great. I too do 10 mins (1000 rotations) but everyday.
Practice makes perfect OP

The weighted hula hoops are quite dangerous. If you do have one I would recommend waist and hip hooping only, no hand hooping or tricks. You will get just as good results with an adult dance hoop, which is a large hoop but not weighted or wavy. If you enjoy hooping with one of the adult hoops you can then progress onto hand hooping and tricks. There are loads of great tutorials on YouTube

As I have discovered... A good and timely warning though, thank you. Thankfully we do not have animals and I only use it when the toddler is in bed, but if it can give me a nasty whack then it is worth thinking how much damage it will do to smaller things (or glasses/glass tables etc).
