Mobile Flight Prices

Hi all
First post and hoping I can get some useful insight advice. We are booked for Disney Florida next Aug (2 adults 2 girls) and we are booking flights separately. My wife had to wait to have holiday leave confirmed which came through last week, however was monitoring prices for about 4 months and was going to book Thomas Cook as could get return flights direct from Manc for £3300. However given the plight of TC this is no longer an option and Virgin skyrocketed after Thomas Cook but annoyingly came down to £3700 a couple of weeks ago. It’s now hovering around £5200 for economy classic so has jumped up again.
Question is we have plenty of time but is it likely the prices are going to come down somewhere near £3500 mark? My plan is to wait up to Christmas to see how they move and then make a decision, just don’t want it to go even higher as it’s then unaffordable.

Any help greatly appreciated

Are you going to book car hire with your flights as this would then count as a package and generally works out cheaper.

I tend to use British Airways and book a car and most times it works out cheaper than Virgin but I’m afraid I don’t know where else they fly from apart from London. Have you looked at Norwegian, I know a lot of people on here rate them.

Are you considering them at £5200, as you say if it goes higher it might be unaffordable?
I ask because that’s a crazy amount. if you travel to London you’ll save a fortune. You could even hire a limo both ways and still save a couple thousand at least.

Personally, I think that £5200 for flights is insane. But each to their own and all that... and it is hard when you see prices wavering all over the place.

Whilst my flights probably wouldn't suit you, you might like to consider indirect, or flying from London. As an example, I have paid £5278 for an indirect BA flight to miami for 2 adults, 2 teens (direct flights home), a standard SUV for a month and 28 nights hotel/ villa accommodation.

Do keep looking, keep checking flight comparison sites, and consider all your options.

There's an app called Hopper which I may help - you enter dates and location and it gives you advice on whether to buy now or wait as they expect prices to drop - i've found it to be pretty accurate!

Thanks for the tips, considered London but the prices are still mid 4k and then factoring hotel, travel , parking and if isn’t as worthwhile.

I’ll use the app, been using Momondo which has been saying prices likely to fall so fingers crossed.

Def not paying anywhere near 5k for flights.

OP, I would really consider flying from LGW. I wouldn't even consider £3500 for 2 adults & 2x Children a good deal.

As an example, for two adults flying BA from Gatwick-Tampa we have paid £1002 including a large car. We live roughly 2 and half hours away from Gatwick and will be staying the night before at the Sandman Signature including 16 days parking for £122.

So all in £1124.

So for the 4 and a bit hour drive from Manchester down to Gatwick it would be 100% worth the savings if you're willing to drive or train/taxi it.

We are a family of 5. Flying out in July arriving back in August. We only live 20 mins from Manchester airport so driving down to London is a no go (we are away for a month so don’t fancy leaving the car somewhere for that long) train for 5 of us there and back would be about £1k plus the extra travel time is not appealing.
So we are wanting Manchester, we also need to arrive at MCO because we need the magical express.
We won’t pay over £3500 for the flights so if the costs direct from Manchester do not hit this price (virgin miles plus money, all be it only minimal miles) we will fly in direct but would only pay £3 at the most for indirect (one stop)
Prices are just crazy at the moment. We have booked as late as February in the past. So we will continue to check daily and book when the price is right.
We have booked our Disney accommodation through charter travel and Peter, the guy we are dealing with has said in his humble opinion he recommends waiting for the aftermath of TC to settle down before considering booking.
It’s unsettling and I am nervous about the prices but my husband is confident we will get something in our budget

OP you can try searching for a BA fly-drive or flight only deal using Manchester as your starting point and changing in London. We're flying down from Glasgow the night before and staying at a Premier Inn overnight before flying to Tampa the next day. On the way back it's from Orlando to Gatwick with a few hours flight connection before we fly back u to Glasgow.

Unless it's the Hogwarts Express I don't think anybody would pay a grand for a train from Manchester to Gatwick.
