We chanced it with our Christmas booking and booked for next summer for a fly drive which with our air miles only cost £350 deposit. The Christmas holiday was booked with Virgin Holiday and they have transferred the full amount (including more air miles) on to the summer holiday so our gamble (should things be nearly normal) has paid of

You need to consider what would happen if Aer Lingus don't cancel the flights. We don't really know what will happen with the FCDO and US travel regulations so look at a situation where the these are lifted and the flights go ahead. Cancelling a flight only booking(if that is what you have) depending on the rules of your fare and when you booked you may get very little back unless it was covered by any Aer Lingus CV provision or you would have to rely on your travel insurance allowing a claim. If you have booked a package then the rules may be different.

It would be a calculated risk and you need to consider what you can afford to do. Hopefully it would work out for you but at the moment December is a long way off for airlines to be making decisions at the moment. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Can I ask did Aer Lingus email you to let you know your flights were cancelled?

My son and his girlfriend have flights booked 1st December to 15 December and are hoping they will be cancelled so they can get their money back.

Thank you

I have a similar dilemma. We have booked and paid a deposit with TUI to go to beach club next year. The same holiday booking through Disney is now 2k less. Plus the gift card. If we cancel and lose our deposit we save £1500 but I am still not wanting to lose the £500 deposit lol

Yes they emailed... also got a separate notification from last minute.com since I booked through them (stupidly) to save a few quid.

Daisy I live in Ireland. This evening we have recorded our highest case of Covid ever. We are heading back into lockdown. I doubt I will be able to go to my mams house at Xmas let alone fly anywhere. We were booked with AL to fly in August. Flight was cancelled 3 weeks before. Rang and requested refund. Took 4 weeks to come thru.

Can you not contact tui and explain the situation. Maybe tui will price match to keep your booking
