Data Sim

I'll be taking my phone with me but my roaming charges are a killer. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations on sims I can pick up either in advance or when I arrive? I don't envisage making many phone calls, but I will want lots of data.

Thanks.

The market for mobile phones is very different in the US from the rest of the world. Unlocked mobiles are almost unheard of, and there is not as much competition.

I work for an American company and asked my boss who runs the IT dept if he could do anything, but alas not. I shall be going next week and probably taking a $60 30 day contract as I'm a heavy data user as well. I'll put an answer on here whilst I'm there if I can and let you know how it goes.

Wi-Fi is good but I'll need the data to power things when I'm not in range.

This and a unlocked phone is all you need! I have used them many times and the service is faultless.

I can't get a working link! It's mrsimcard and you need the lyca yes plan $39 for 30 days.

Try this and scroll down

mrsimcard/iphone.html

Hiya we get the AT&T plan every year for calls and data but we use the calls for family to check in if we're out and about.

I'm positive I remember seeing that you can use an AT&T broadband sim in your phone if you use the correct APN settings. Can't remember where I seen it though. But I'm a bit of a telecoms geek and I've done it in europe and I'm sure you can in the states with the right APN they dont care about device as long as you use the correct settings to activate. They get paid either way...you won't be able to use voip on some deals though.

With the amount of free wifi available there is no need to try and give yourself the hassle and cost of getting g a data sim

These sim cards with data are are very expensive in the States.
I guess no competition means high prices.
