Dublin airport how does immigration work if staying overin dublin ?

We are flying to Dublin from Manchester ... staying overnight... and flying to new York from Dublin..how does immigration work.Will we do it when we go to the airport the following day or will we have done pre clearance on arrival even though we will be leaving the airport ? sorry sounds like I am rambling

When we did this in 2018 we checked in with American Airlines and then cleared security. From there it was down some stairs where there was another security clearance and then queued for pre clearance.

You will do it the day you fly, before you board your flight

You do it morning of your flight - you go through security - then through duty free and shops bars etc then down stairs to preclearance - once you do preclearance you are technically in the us and there is a small cafe at the gate or a lounge you pay for access to
