Dec 2020

I am finding it tricky to plan for Dec 2020 as the weather can be either great / hot or variable. I would really love to have a chance to visit a waterpark especially volcano bay but until the time comes we won't know which day would be a good one. The problem is everything ADRs, fastpasses, dessert parties are planned in advance.
How do people plan for December?

Having been twice in Dec and planning also for 2020, I can only tell you how variable we found the weather both times we went.

We were warned beforehand to pack for every type of weather and I couldn’t really get my head around that - but it was such good advice!

We literally had a situation where one day, I put my boys in their pjs under their jeans with winter coats, hat, scarf on and they were still freezing (I literally have never experience as cold a wind in the U.K. as we felt in WDW that day!) and then the following day, we were sat in swimsuits sunbathing by the pool listening to Christmas songs - surreal!

As for water parks - I have never found it warm enough to swim (I came back with a tan, and my children swam, but there was a nip in the air which would of meant I’d of been too cold getting in and out of the water I expect). However, if you are more hardy than I, then my advice if you are planning to do Disney and therefore want to book fastpasses, would be to book fastpasses for every day, and then if you do wake up one day where it’s warm enough for a water park, then just cancel your FPs and change your plans. I’m not sure the weather will be reliable enough to advance plan a particular water park day, but I definitely think there is a good chance that you’ll get a day where you could get to one (especially if you are braver than me! )

ETA I’m hoping dessert parties/ADRs wouldn’t be effected so much, especially if you book breakfasts/dinners, as you could still go to the water park for the main part of the day.

Happy planning!

Wow, thank you so much.
Thanks very much. I think I might consider pool breaks if warm but no water park visit. Good idea re avoiding lunch ADRs so I won't need 24 hour cancellation and could keep evening ADRs/ dessert parties.
We are going for the first 2 weeks of december. anyone else going on these dates?

We are going between Christmas and New Year due to a family members special birthday celebration on NYE, but our first trip was early December and that was a terrific time to go - the benefits of seeing all of the Christmas decorations with less crowds was great.

If budget would stretch to the Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party (it is very pricey!), I would recommend it for the snowfall in Main Street - but then I’m very into Christmas and it made it so magical for me - it’s not an essential add on by any stretch, but for a special, (expensive) treat, we really loved it!

Have a wonderful trip 👍

Thanks for the recommendation. I am very excited about Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Just the atmosphere mostly and meeting some characters. My husband is into Christmas +++ so that will go down well!
