Best place to park in St Augustine?
Hello Dibbers, we are going to drive for a day trip to St Augustine this Sunday and as it is the first time we've been there, where is the best place to park please? We will be there for pretty much all of the day I would say so don't want to be stung with epic car park charges or worse still finding the hire car has been towed away!
Thanks in advance, Pupbelly |

It's at least 10 years since we visited but I recall that parking at the Old Jail was free and you can also catch the trolley ride from there as well.
Worth researching to see if it's still free though. Mick

You can park for free on the streets in The Old town on Sundays.

If you go past the Ripley's museum and further away from town down that road you can park at the side of the road.

I always park in 'The Historic Downtown Parking Facility' - it's the downtown that is historic, not the parking facility. It has a flat rate ($15), so you can park all day. The visitor centre is next door, so you can get leaflets, plus it has toilets. It is right next to the downtown area - the top end of St Georges St is a few yards away and the Castillo de San Marcos very near - so very convenient. It's a garage, so your car is out of the sun. It's signposted from the US1, so easy to find.
Note the times of the trolley tours - they stop late afternoon, which might be too early if you are staying all day. The Old Jail is some way out of town - so you don't want to have to walk back to it. Been to St Augustine lots of times, but never used the trolley. The downtown area where all the sites are is quite compact so easily walkable, and just strolling the old streets is the best way to see things. The trolleys are tourist traps, and a nuisance in the traffic, and noisy with the commentary - so spoil the place! |

There is a public parking garage on Cordova Street, off W Castillo Drive. There is a charge which is $15 a day.
