Minivan or Full size SUV?

Hi,
I’ve got a 7 seater minivan booked with Alamo via Auto Europe for the 10th - 24th December, costing £500. After seeing some posts about price drops I have had a look at current prices and found that minivan pricing has gone up, but a full size SUV has come down. It would now cost £472 for a Ford Explorer.

There will be 5 adults and I need space to carry a scooter (ECV). DH is the driver but I have mobility and health issue which usually dictate all decisions, including car size. We normally have a Intermediate SUV (Ford Escape) when there is just 2 of us.

Would you swap to the SUV or keep the minivan? (I don’t know anything about the size differences or driving positions and there’s only so much you can glean from a google image search.) I thought it might be a better driving experience for DH as it’s not the type of car he’s likely to ever drive again, but I don’t know how difficult it is to get into the passenger seat of the SUV.

If you’ve managed to make sense of my rambling thanks for getting this far, lol.

I would get the SUV if it’s a full size.

I’d stick with the minivan. We swapped to a full size SUV in May and it wasn’t a success. I found it hard to get in and out of the passenger seat with my bad knees. Plus, there wasn’t enough room for DS folding wheelchair when the back row seats were up.

Personally I’d fo for the SUV but if you have mobility issues then go for the van. It’s a decent step up to get into a full size SUV, they are beasts!

I am old (67) and small and drive a mini van without a problem. I cannot get into an SUV easily. If you have mobility issues, the van is a better option and easier to get in and out of. And as a short person, even before I was older, SUV's were always a challenge. They are high and require a big step up.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I've decided to stick with the minivan.
