Universal to Disney to Villa
We are thinking of the undernoted hotel/villa combination for next year. Is there any downside/flaws with this plan?
Arrive Orlando - book into Airport hotel (we fly indirect and normally arrive late) - food and bed. Uber to Universal - check in very early at HRH (or similar hotel with express pass) stay one night at Universal - have two days in parks. Also may consider a second night in say Cabana Bay to do Volcano bay before moving to Disney. Uber to Disney - 5 days at Disney with free dining Pick up hire car at Disney and book Villa for remaining week of holiday Is there a downside to booking into an airport hotel - don't want to lose one of the Universal Hotels by going direct to Universal as we would arrive late and normally too tired to do anything other than eat/sleep. Thought this way would could maximise the Universal Hotel booking? Thanks. Edited at 05:08 PM. |

well, I find that on paper, maximising the universal stay by only staying there for "useful" nights, is not something I would consider
I would go direct from the airport to HRH ... yes, it means an additionnal more expensive night. But, even if I'm up at silly o'clock on first morning, getting a uber, cab or whatever to universal, and do a check in again, when I've already done one the night before at an airport hotel ... no, thanks but, early morning at HRH you won't have your room ready, bags will bell service, here comes the tip for the bell boy then, the next day, 2nd day of express, you need to vacate the room by 11am ... so here go your bags to bell services again, and yet another tip then you'll need to transfer your bags to CBBR, and another check in ... really, I'm not on vacations to hop from one hotel to the next. I'd do that on a road trip, not withing a 2 miles radius to save a few quids. the major downside, for me, is how much time will be wasted, how much effort, and how tired I'll be compared to the money saved. because between the transfers, the tips, the not having a room to come back at if you're too tired on first day ... this doesn't sound "vacations" to me, at least, as far as my own 2 cents, and personnal preferences go. |

Agree that personally I wouldn't do 3 hotels in 3 nights - you might be more amenable to this though so that's a personal thing, much as I would prefer to put Universal at the end of my stay if only doing it for a few days as I find it more relaxing and it would help me wind down ready for heading back home.
I would say, if you look at the cheapest EP hotel and forgo the airport hotel, can you get 2 nights at Universal for an "acceptable" amount of money? Something to think about.

Last trip we did two nights at HRH, five at Disney with ddp & villa for a week, the only thing I'd change is 15 nights rather than 14 & do three nights at Universal
