Alternative Disney Experience

Hi Dibbers,

I'm looking for advice for what I would class the "alternative" Disney experience. When we went earlier this year we spent so much time in the parks getting as many rides in I felt we missed some of the magic. Has anyone got any tips of things that are non ride based things to do, either in the parks or within the bubble area e.g. Is the boardwalk worth a visit? Are there any hotel areas worth just visiting to take in the magic?

Thanks in advance

Rob

Disney Cruise - all the magic, more food than you can even think about, West End/Broadway style shows, great itineraries .. what's not to love?!

Just don't say 'I don't like boats or I get sick on ferries'. These are the two most common things that newbies come back and mention when they return. Wishing they'd never said it!

After the parks I would advise:

All Disney Hotels and walk round them

A spa experience in the GFH

The boat from POR to DS

Disney W W of Sports

Afternoon Tea in the GFH

Bowling at DS

Cinema at DS

Night time goggles at AKL looking at animals with rangers

Geyser Springs at WL

Horses at FW

Fireworks from Trader Sams at the Poly

The list is ENDLESS

Have you thought about any of the tours e.g. Keys To The Kingdom tour etc? I really fancy trying one next time, I love anything where I feel like I'm getting inside information and find it all really interesting x

We spent an afternoon having drinks at each of the monorail resorts and it was fab. Trader Sam's Grog Grotto is so good!

Boardwalk is definitely worth a visit too

We are spending 3 days in Disney this year, but only 1 day in the parks (MK).

We are spending some time at Disney Springs on arrival day, before going to the camp fire and outdoor movie. Then to bed for the park day. On the last day, we have a pool day at our resort (POFQ), before exploring the Disney resorts a bit. Our daughter is going to go play at Lilo and Stitch Playhouse, while we have a meal at Ohanas, before a drink in Trader Sam's Grog Grotto, then all together again to watch the fireworks from Poly's beach to see out the holiday!

That's the rough plan anyway... I'm sure it will tweak a bit.

But I'm really looking forward to it. I've spent plenty of time at DW before, but never actually stayed on Disney.

I'm planning a visit to fort wilderness! Horse or wagon rides, and you can watch the fireworks and electric parade from the beach area!

I think it's just the water pageant from FW isn't it? You can't see the fireworks clearly.

Might be wrong.
