Mobile Anyone had a tight onwards journey from Manchester?

Hello!

107 sleeps to go 😊

We have had to change our flights as was originally flying Aberdeen to Frankfurt and Frankfurt to Orlando with Lufthansa. They are no longer running the Aberdeen - Frankfurt leg so we have paid £60 and now going Aberdeen to Manchester with flybe then out to Orlando with Virgin Atlantic.

Our flight times going out are leave Aberdeen 06.40 arrive Manchester at 08.00 then our flight out to Orlando leaves 10.30. Has anyone does this and is there enough time to not rush too much? Get through security again etc?

Thanks!

Lauren

You won't go through security at Frankfurt but will remain in the sterile area (e.g. Airside) so it is ample time.
You won't see your bags til you get to the US assuming Flybe and Virgin have a ticketing and baggage agreement and everything is on one ticket.
If they don't it's a bit more complicated though.

Edited at 06:08 PM.

Honestly, I think it’s quite tight. Are your bags checked in all way through from Aberdeen to MCO? Will you have to check in again or are you already checked in?
If so then I think it’s doable but there are a lot of things out of control that you are relying on.
1) Flight leaves on time.
2) You don’t get stuck circling at Manchester (that’s happened a few times to me). Seems to take forever to land.
3) How busy security is.

But I’m one of these people who likes to be at the airport mega early.

Im one of those people too usually. Its the only alternative offered by travel agent that suits us. Yes our luggage should be going all the way through from aberdeen to orlando and they will be checking us in so need to get off flight and straight back though security!

I think it depends if your bags will be checked through

You can’t stay airside as far as I know as Flybe land at T3 and Virgin is T2

Thats’s a fair walk as you have to go through T1 (it’s 3,1,2)
If you have bags to carry too that will take at least 30 min
Then bag drop, then security

I'd do 2.5 hrs in the States including immigration, so I'd be more than happy with that at Manchester, even with the Terminal change.

So OP what you’ll have to do is leave Terminal 3, walk to Terminal 1 (thankfully only a 5 minute walk) go upstairs to departures and then there is a tiny escalator which takes you to the walkway for Terminal 2 which is probably a ten minute walk.
And then through security. I think if you are lucky, you might get to Terminal 2 for 9:15. So yes it’s doable.
Make sure you have boarding passes printed already.
But honestly I think I would tell the travel agent that isn’t enough time and ask them to put you on an Aberdeen flight the day before and stay at an airport hotel for the night. You can get a Premier inn for £35 and it’s five mins from the airport.
