Annual disney pass - valid from + fastpass?

I tried askng this on another thread, but perhaps best to ask on a seperate thread.

If I buy annual platinum disney tickets now, will they only be vaild when I first use them or from when I actually buy them.

I am aware I can collect the magic bands from Disney springs, but will they give me the pass numbers so I can book fast passes in advance?

You will get a will call order number that will link into MDE and allow FP booking. You will then have to collect the MB's and activate the passes. They are valid from first use not purchase date.

I'm not sure you can collect the Magic Bands in person. We've always had to order them for delivery to our offsite hotel - delivery takes about a week.

Have they changed their policy on this?

I called disneyworld and they said it was fine collecting the magic bands from guest services at disney springs.

Not everyone who stays on disney property buys annual tickets so I guess they have to collect them from somewhere.

They must have changed their rules then. We've bought APs twice (the last, Easter 2017) and tried many times to get Magic Bands from everywhere, including Disney Springs. We were always told we had to order them online - which we thought was ridiculous. A good move by Disney! Of course, they won't be engraved with your names, but that doesn't really matter.

If you do manage to get them at DS, check MDE and see if it will let you order a second one.
