Even at $200 each way for a transfer its still a cheap flight. You could get a quick quote from some of the advertisers on here.

I was worried about this but managed to get a 3hr 45 min connection on the Virgin website instead. Means we get to Tampa a bit later than I'd have liked but at least we won't feel rushed when we get to Atlanta.

You can go via JFK - we are doing JFK out with 4 hr layover and Atlanta return.

When I was looking last night, there was a range of different return flights with different connecting airports, eg JFK and DTW, with different connection times and all at the same price.

So, if you don't like the Atlanta option, you should be able to find another one.

I agree with four plus luggage the OP will probably need an XL with either Uber or Lyft so probably best to budget for $120 each way looking at the Lyft fare calculator for TPA to WDW.. I find Lyft cheaper than Uber, the app more user friendly and every driver we had was lovely.

Short story , we had a rental for part of our holiday, the day after we picked it up it broke down (in Walmart after we'd done a big shop during a storm ) we got a Lyft back and discovered on certain Sat Navs there is a glitch and it reverts Formosa Bvd addresses to Formosa Gardens Bvd addresses. Only five minutes away but not fun when you have no clue where you are going. Our Lyft driver figured it all out for us and wouldn't charge us for the detour. He ended up coming in to the villa with us for coffee and we all had a great chat. Next day he dropped off our Sat Nav which I'd taken out of the rental and accidentally left in his Lyft.
Whilst I've never had a bad Uber in the US (can't say the same for the UK) we just found Lyft overall better as well as cheaper.

With regard to the flights Atlanta is huge but very easy and quick to get around . I'd choose it over JFK to transit every time. There's also far more flights from ATL to Florida than from JFK so if you did get a delay and miss your connection , the wait for the next flight is likely to be shorter than at JFK.

There were lots of options. I’ve gone for 4 hours at jfk out and 2 hours in Atlanta return. Could have had a lot of different combinations.

Many drivers will be working for both Uber and Lyft simultaneously.

I've looked at it and apparently the t 2 hours is more than enough time, i feel these are best we are going to get. It's normally 40 min drive from MCO so an hour isn't an issue for us.
