"go compare" style car hire site?

does such a site exist just enter your details once, rather then visiting various sites/brokers indidually...

Try Kayak too. I use it all the time for hotels, just checked and they do have a car hire section too.

Though sites like Alamo brits have 10% off the standard rate, and there's often codes for avis and hertz which this sites dont take into consideration. Also make sure they include all the necessary insurance.

Funnily booked a car for my dad on holiday autos using Budget just the other week for a business trip in Budapest. No issues whatsoever, though you will always get bad reports from all rental companies - budget is no better or worse than the rest (well, I'd steer clear from dollar )

Very true, Alamo and I think national do let you pick your car from a line if thats important to you, but if you are not happy with the car (ie you booked a full size and its more like an intermediate or if it looks like its really been through the mill) then I'd doubt budget wouldn't swap it for you.
