Another Monzo Card Question...

I have a Monzo Card for our trip and I was going to upload our spends on to it today. But then I remembered that others had said always have a back up because the card is still in the trial stages.

Should I put all our money on at the moment, or just add periodically as I need it?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Nope, I never rely on one card, even if it isn't in trial stage. What if you were to lose it?
It's easy and instant to load . I loaded a few hundred on every few days. If possible leave your money in an account that can be accessed by other means, either debit card or other currency card. Then if you do have problems with one card you aren't stuck.

Thanks for the advice, I already have £800 on it, so think I will leave the rest of my spends in my bank account and then I can top up through my Debit Card that is set up on my Monzo account.

I did a test with it by paying $100 off my room account early on then left it nearly empty till I was paying off my room bill.

We were on site though so just put everything on the magic band to sort at the end

And take that debit card with you. It may not be the best to use abroad and you probably won't need it. But should anything happen to your Monzo card you'll still have access to your money.

And don't forget you can ' freeze' your card, so if it did go missing no-one can use it.
Just remember to de ice it before you load it or use it

I use a Halifax Clarity and take the Monzo as a back-up (and another debit and credit card for more backups ).

So far only needed to use the Clarity, but I use Monzo back home without any issues.

When you are over there, you should get an alert through the Monzo app (location services will pick-up you are in the US if you have this on) and it'll give you some advice/tips whilst there.

We used Monzo during our trip in August and never had any problems ... however, the card is still in beta and has had the occasional issues. I took a back up credit card just in case.

I kept my balance around £200 and just topped up as and when needed that way if the card was lost, stolen or cloned there would never be a great value on the card. The app is brilliant for keeping track of things.
