Yes, I did mine at the weekend - the option to upload the machine readable portion of the passport page is there, on the official site, but you can just scroll down and enter the info manually. I did try uploading - it worked fine for one of them, but for the second, it added lots of typos to the information, so I gave up!

Interesting - this must be new, never seen it in all the years of doing ESTA, most recently last year. But sounds like you can skip it OP, did you fill in the related manual section?

All done 🤞🤞they let me in. Is it usual to say you should hear within 72 hours. Can't remember what happened last time

I don’t think you need to upload your passport, that is just to make it easier for you I think. I’ve just done mine tonight and although I can clearly see where is says upload your passport it doesn’t say you have to. Mine were approved no passport uploaded.

Unless it's a group application you won't hear anything, if you log out and log back in they are usually approved

I've just submitted my new Esta application and I did see the Upload passport Icon, I think it just stores the info from your passport to pre fill in certain parts of information such as passport number etc, just saves you time filling it all in, I just dismissed that and carried on with filling in all our details. Now I've just got to wait to see if we've been approved
