Every First booking automatically has free seat selection at time of booking irrespective of status.
If we’re being technical then seat selection is free from time of booking for those with silver or gold executive club status only and all first class bookings - neither of which were applicable to the OP in this case.

I tend to forget about first class as it’s not a standard way for families to fly - my bad

As others have also said you can carry opt to arrange Seats for free via the BA manage my booking section. As my Wife suffers from an illness which requires assistance we can vouch for this. I would however call them and explain what assistance if any your son may require and they will sort everything out for you including seat reservation. We have done this for our 2 trips with BA this year and the staff have been excellent.

That is not true.

There is no charge to reserve seats in advance in first.

Also, if you hold status with BA there is no seat reservation fee.

Sorry but I am not sure what your point is. Do you think I was simply copying what you wrote but rephrased this. I was responding to a post on the first page having not read your reply which is on the second page. I would say this simply supports what you are saying and adds to the weight of evidence. Of course if this isn’t acceptable perhaps you would like to mention the same on every thread on here where you see multiple people saying the same thing. I’m sure some would say that your own post is simply a rephrasing if scooby99’s post which I had also not seen before writing my own. Apologies if you feel I was stepping on your toes.

And if you wish to be really technical, bronze members get free seat booking 7 days before departure.

You were correcting me without reading the thread - that was my point.

Furthermore I didn't need to mention executive club members that held bronze status as my response was in relation to free seating at time of booking which you cannot do as a bronze member.

As I said, if this is the case I’m sure you will do the same on other posts. Apologies if I have upset you by correcting you without reading the whole thread.

And bronze members do get free seat selection at time of booking (if they book within seven days of departure! )
