Yes as far as I know, plus you wouldn't have the option to park hop on the same day. Ideally I'd like to spend one whole day in each park, then do the best of each on the third day. But this wouldn't be possible with a base ticket. The Hogwarts express is obviously a very quick and convenient way to transfer parks, but other than that you'll not miss much. There are a few small effects at the windows as you travel, but nothing special.

Cheers, that's what I thought. We've done the HW express before but my sons girlfriend is coming this year so might just get them both base tickets as it's cheaper.

The main difference (in my opinion) is that you can visit both parks on the same day with the Park-to-Park ticket whereas you can only visit one park per day with the Base ticket. In addition to that, yes, you can only go on the Hogwarts Express with the Park-to-Park ticket, whereas you can't experience this ride with the Base ticket.

As far as I can gather, if you intend going to both parks at least once and also the new water park, as we do, there's not really a great deal of difference between getting say 3 base day tickets and the 14 day unlimited tickets on offer. For such little difference, I'd rather give myself the option of going back when I choose, even if it's just for an evening after shopping say. Plus I could park hop via the Hogarts express. Apart from the experience, it's also a much quicker way to change parks than walking park to park.

Yes, if you want 3 days - a day at US, a day at IOA and a day at VB - then the 3 day base ticket that includes Volcano Bay is around £203. It's "only" around £13 per person cheaper than the 14 day ticket.

If some people don't want to visit Volcano Bay, then the 3 day Base ticket for just US and IOA is around £170. That's about £33 per person cheaper than the above - and £46 cheaper than ther 14 day ticket. Therefore I don't think it's worth getting the 14 day ticket in this case. Although I guess it depends on how much you want to ride on the Hogwarts Express or park hop.
