An alternative if they reopen T4 to normal operation is to stay at the PI T4 instead. You can walk over to the terminal (covered walkway, about 5 mins) and then get the free train transfer to T5. This is why I'm holding off booking the T5. But since only red list arrivals are currently going through T4, they've suspended all transport to it.

PI are doing free cancellation currently and prices are super low at the moment so we took the plunge today and put in a placeholder booking for next summer just in case nothing better comes up

We stayed here in August, staff were great and a lovely breakfast. Bus stops outside which takes you to terminal 5 or a Uber is still reasonable. Lovely pub down the road which does nice food, Mc Donald’s near by too.
We will definitely stay here again.
