need help to decide between Toledo or Californian grill during fireworks?
I am a long time reader on this forum. but this time I really need some help.
We are staying in coronado springs for 14 nights. We are planing to have mostly quick service or cheaper table service meals with a couple of signature diners mixed in. I can't decide between cali grill and toledo for dinner on our disneymoon (and first ever trip) this january. Calli grill is classic. The views look incredible especially during the fireworks. But the food looks massively overpriced and not that interesting to us. Toledo is conveniently located in our resort. The food looks more interesting and is more reasonable priced. But the views don't look that good compared to calli gril. What to choose? What do you recommend? And do you have any experience watching fireworks from toledo? My husband (We were married a year ago but covid made us reschedule our honeymoon three times) suggested to go to toledo for a full diner and go to the cali grill lounge for a few bites, drinks and the view. Is cali grill lounge still an option with the new fixed menu? and is it doable to go there during fireworks without waiting for a few hours? thank you for helping. and sorry for the bad english. we are from the netherlands so english isn't my first language. |

For a fireworks view, there's not really a comparison between them. But since you're not fussed by the CG menu, have you considered the other MK area resorts with fireworks views? The next main one would be Ohana at the Poly, but also Narcoossee's at GF has a good view.
I would rather eat at Toledo (it wasn't open yet on my last trip, but menu and reviews look good) and view fireworks on a separate evening tbh. They're best experienced in the parks now anyway since they are so heavily focused on projections which you can't see as well from further away. |

Toledo food was great so much so we ate there twice on our last trip an I rated it above many of the signature dining options.
However if you want the fireworks view... Cali Grill.

I prefer Narcoosee I've CF for both food and view TBH. Can't comment on Toledo's, never been.
I found Narcoosee staff more accomodating re going outside to watch fireworks than CF |

If you dine in the CG lounge you can get there early when it opens, have something to eat and drink and just keep your receipt to return later when fireworks are on.
Food wise prefer Toledo but never watched fireworks from there. Narcoosees for us is a better experience than CG as well. We have also watched the fireworks from the bridge between Contemporary and BLT on many occasions.

I loved the food at Toledo (aside from the Patatas bravas which we all agreed were absolutely horrible strangely) however, the fireworks view doesn’t compare to Cali Grill IMO
It’s a much nicer setting at Toledo though. |

Cali Grill is our favourite - we've never had a bad meal there.
We love the food, the cocktails, the wine list, the incredible service and the views - the sunset, then the beautiful illuminated Magic Kingdom and then, finally, the fireworks. Even when we do cheeky cheapie Fab half-term no-parks weeks, we still visit the Cali Grill. If we can't get an ADR (our Feb trips are often booked just a week or two in advance) we get there early and still have a full meal in the lounge area. I don't think many people would be disappointed with the Cali Grill, but if the food's really not striking you, take the lounge option suggests above. Maybe get there early, have a few drinks and maybe an appetiser or two and then jump on the monorail and have dinner at a more appealing restaurant. Or catch a boat the Wilderness Lodge - Geyser Point is a great spot - and then return to the CG for fireworks. |
