I have booked on Wednesday and still waiting. So far I have booked for 1 person, with a view to adding a friend later. If I make my park reservations and add him to my room booking in a few months, will the park reservations automatically apply to him as well?

No, you make park reservations per person not per booking.

There is a fully refundable option at the moment, so there is no advantage of only booking for one of the party as there used to be.

Thought I would bump this to say I booked last night (Tuesday) and 25 hours later I was able to link the booking to MDE.
The last time I was on MDE it was to cancel our FPs and Dining Reservations for May 2020 - was nice to be back on again feeling very positive and hopeful.
