Contemporary Refurb Check-in
As a Disney history fan, I absolutely love this. Steakhouse 71 also looks excellent from just the entrance.

They have done a good job with the new check in area, I love the idea of all the concept art from the conception of the hotel out on view, the furniture and colour scheme are all very retro

It's stunning. Now they just have to throw the Incredibles decals in the trash and continue this theme into the rooms.

It looks a vast improvement, l was a little underwhelmed the first time I stepped in the Contemporary.

I’m inclined to agree, although I can see why they went for Incredibles due to the retro artwork.
Last time I went into the lobby of the Contemporary it felt like a 1970s council office. This looks warm and inviting while still keeping to the Contemporary feel. As a Mary Blair fan I approve.

I can understand why they chose Incredibles since it fits time-wise but for a hotel that starts at $750/night for the main tower, it was executed poorly. I was expecting something more along the lines of the Marvel hotel. And it completely misses the mark for convention guests. No desk in the room and some childish decals in the closet? Hard pass. Maybe they'll make some improvements in the garden wing and push that for conventions instead.
But I don't think this hotel needed characters at all. It's a classic and can stand in its own right. If they'd put that monorail mural in the room, they could have had ALL my money. Edited at 09:08 AM. |

Looks fabulous. Thanks for posting this. We have always been fans of the Wave so are excited to try Steakhouse 71 on our next trip (hopefully we can get a reservation). The Contemporary and Bay Lake Tower have to be my favourites on Disney property.
