We are in a similar situation. We have got Disney tickets but my son who’s also 8 would love to go to Universal.
We did it last time we came, 3 years ago.. and my little girl who was 3 at the time was slightly bored there and spent most of her time in the water jets around the park. But as a family we all enjoyed Universal especially the grandparents. We are going back In May and I am pricing tickets again, he is very tall and is big enough for every ride in Universal and I think it would be a shame if we didn’t go , as I do feel Disney doesn’t have the big rides he gets his thrills from if you get me! |

To answer your first question...
Yes. You can buy a 1 or 2 day ticket. You can buy these at the gate, from Universal's American website, or from places like UndercoverTourist: undercovertourist/or...rlando-resort/ ...or OrlandoAttractions (although Orlando Attractions only sells 2 day hopper tickets and above): orlandoattractions/t...o-park-tickets So you can buy a 1-Day Park-to-Park ticket for around £155 (or less depending on the day chosen) or a 2-Day Base ticket for around £195. It's cheaper, but not cheap. If you wanted, you could leave it until you are out there and buy on the gate if you felt like visiting.

I have just bought 2 day 2 park ticket from Universal direct, it seemed the cheapest for these type of tickets. We will only go to each park once which is totally fine as we are staying at HRH so will only have fast passes for 2 days.
