Mobile Universal Photo pass

Looking to find out some more about how photo pass works at Universal. Is it expensive- for some reason the universal website page won’t load for me at all.

Should we buy in advance or when we get there?

How does it work, do you get the photos on an app or do you need to use some kind of kiosk?

How many photographers are there around?

We have had the photo package on our previous two trips. Whilst it is somewhat inferior to Disney's offering I still think it's worthwhile getting as we have got some great photos as a result from both trips. There are less roaming photographers than in Disney... you will always find them at the entrance to each park but other than that it is pretty much pot luck where else you will find them! It does include all your ride photos too though.

We have pre-bought both times as it does work out cheaper and if you keep an eye out they often do deals. We paid about £50 last year for a 5 day pass which included 3 prints plus a Shutterbuttons video (which we never actually got to do)

You are given a card which you give to the photographer when having your shots taken and then will they then load on the Amazing Pictures app shortly after. For ride photos you go up to the photo kiosk after riding and hand over your card and they will add the image to your account (some rides such as MIB have machines where you can add them yourself)

Any other questions just shout!

Does this work?

We bought ours in the Black Friday sale; got a 10 day pass including a shutterbuttons video for $99.

Most reviews say the package is worth it for ride pictures alone. It's currently $89 for a 3 day pass but I have a note in my planning book that it was on special offer last year, possibly in May but will have to check.

I had an annual pass in a black Friday deal for about $79 , cant complain about that price.

As a solo traveller it was great and loads of ride photos too.
Plus a print of spider man

We also get it during the sale- they seem to be every 3-4 months. We are going twice so got the annual pass option which also included Shutterbuttons, 2 prints 6x4/5x7 and a rip ride video. I think it was $130-140.

Over 5 days we got over 200 photos. We did stop a lot for shots- kids took over 30 at the Volcano bay Tapu Tapu activated machine and we did a Marvel meal ( 2 0f 5 characters had photopass). They have some roaming photographers- also some scanning machine ie at Jurassic park van and the Back to the Future car. Sometime characters have a photographer but usually not.
Shutterbuttons was fun for the kids 12 moving shots and didn't take too long0 I'd recommend for a Harry Potter fan. The rip ride video was fun as it was my daughter first time but I wouldn't have pain separately for it.
