Magical Express

Hi when using the Magical Express do you have to pick up your suitcases or do they do this for you and take to the hotel? Thanks

Yes, you have to collect your suitcases in order to clear customs. There is a way of getting Disney to deliver them, but it can take up to 4 hours, and I'm not 100% how to do it. Personally, once I know they've made it to Florida, I don't want to let them out of my sight again, so we just take them on the DME. It means I can get unpacked as soon as we arrive rather than waiting for delivery

The automatic collection is only for domestic travellers, as they're sent special tags to attach to their luggage.

AFAIK, you can give the MDE clerks your baggage claim tickets to have it picked up and delivered same as domestic tagging. But as Vickie says, they'll arrive separately and you may be waiting hours for them to turn up. If you're on a direct flight and collecting bags for customs anyway, it's actually easier just to keep them with you and put them on the same bus you'll be on.

Thank you! I thought I’d read that you don’t have to pick it up, glad I checked now! ☺️

US travellers can get theirs delivered. For UK it's best to take them with you. When you get to your resort, you may be able to get help to bring them to your room (at SSR we were taken in a golf cart along with our luggage).
