TUI car hire help please

Hi, I was advised on here a few months back that TUI car hire was a waste of time (that the extra insurance required is more costly than renting elsewhere?) There was someone on the Dibb that owns a rental, could someone give me the details please? TIA

Also, why can't I work the Forum search function? It doesn't matter what I search for I only ever get one result - To AKL or not to AKL thread - bizarre
