St Lucia is such a beautiful island, although the stark contrasts between the lavishness of some of the hotels and the local villages are really thought provoking.

Looking forward to reading more.
So true. No benefits. No health support. Then you wonder why the souvenir stall people pester you to buy. It's their living. But they are beautiful people. Our driver yesterday on a trip, Elias, was just so wonderful and answered all and every question quite honestly on some occasions. It makes you feel humbled To them we must appear to be millionaires. Rich live alongside poor, the latter being the majority. But they are a proud people.

As for the driving -it doesn't phase Darrin one bit. He is used to narrow Cornish lanes and cows, bulls, tractors etc on the rad so some stray goat or lunatic truck driver is all in his stride. I have named the car the Kia Sabotage -(it's actually a Sportage!)

We had a brilliant driver too on a tour we did. We had several chats throughout the day about life there and his extended family. We found all of the locals so friendly and they couldn't do enough for you.
