Is it frowned upon to order just a milkshake from a TS restaurant

I really want to go back to the plaza restaurant but only for their milkshakes as we really enjoyed them last year but the food not so much. will we get moaned at or is it inappropriate to just order a milkshake? ie we'll be taking up a table that potentially could be used for a full food order and depriving the server of a larger tip.

I’m not sure I would go in there just to order a milkshake when you can easily get one from the Plaza Ice-Cream Parlour and then sit outside the Plaza to enjoy it.

You’re the customer you can order what you want - we’ve been to ts restaurants and just ordered dessert before.

If you just get milkshakes then yes the cost and therefore expected tip is less then someone who orders a full meal but equally you’ll probably use the table for a shorter period time too so it evens out. As for depriving the server of a tip there is no set tip per table and tips actually given vary greatly regardless of bill total so as long as you do tip they aren’t losing out.

Like suggested you could get some fries or a stater to share or even just leave a bigger tip if you feel uncomfortable just getting shakes but ultimately it’s up to you.

We went in for just a drink and a key lime pie to share. No issues.

I think this is inappropriate. It’s a restaurant not a cafe.

I am inclined to agree, I wouldn’t dream of doing this. I think when you go into a restaurant there is a reasonable expectation that you are there to order food. Of course nobody is going to say anything at Disney, but they are probably thinking it.

Depends on the timing for me. If it's 3pm Monday and not busy then they are not missing out on anything by me taking a seat at a table. If I've booked a 7pm Saturday night and just order a cocktail and no food then it's a different story and wouldn't expect them to accomodate me.

Edit: the times I have sat just at a table and ordered drinks I have said to the front of house: we just wants drinks, is that ok? Then clear to everyone and they are free to say no. Bit odd with a reservation though.
