Same for us! We’ve done it for a few years running now and it’s been well worth it for long journeys.

They are all going up from 1st March - we have the 2 together card. Definitely worth having.

l had an email the other day that contained this information

After being frozen for over a decade, from Sunday 2 March 2025 the price of most Railcards will change to £35 for a 1-year Railcard and £80 for a 3-year Railcard. The price of the Disabled Persons Railcard will stay the same, at £20 for a 1-year card and £54 for a 3-year card.
l have a senior railcard and purchase it on the railcard app and find that easy but you don't normally get any discounts buying the railcard but could easily save the £30.00 on one journey so any other travel throughout the year was a saving

also look for travel restrictions on the card you choose, the two together railcard used to have a morning peak restriction so no travel between 5.00am and 9.30am weekdays

l think the senior railcard has a morning peak restriction for journeys that start or end in the London south east area

but please check the travel restrictions of whatever railcard you choose as they may have changed and the info above is from memory

Just came to say about restrictions as just remembered reading at least one can’t be before certain times week days or for journeys under a certain amount

Definitely worth getting a railcard. We've used Tesco vouchers for them in the past, or we look out for a discount code. Often "Money Saving Expert" has links to offers.

You can use it the same but different sellers sometimes have different offers

that code is only available with the the purchase of a train ticket on the trainpal app

Railcards currently cost £30 for one-year or £70 for three years (prices are rising from March), but if you purchase a digital railcard (which means it's stored on your phone) via third-party booking site TrainPal, you can get 25% off using a code – making it £22.50 for a one-year railcard, or £52.50 for three years.

From Sunday 2 March, a one-year railcard will cost £35 (£5 increase) and a three-year one £80 (£10 increase), so this month's a good time to get a railcard before the price hike comes in.

You'll need to be a new TrainPal user to get the 25% off, but if you're an existing user, you can still get 10% off, making a one-year railcard £27, or £63 for three years. There are a couple of hoops to go through, as you'll also need to buy any train ticket (no minimum spend) within 30 days to activate the railcard, but we explain how it works below.

Note: The railcard can only be accessed via the TrainPal app. You can't transfer it to the Railcard app after purchasing.
