We may be back in September so they gave us complimentary tickets for any day after labor day and after 2pm.
This was about 4pm. After that things took a turn for the better as we got Ministry and also were given fast pass for Mario.
Across the day we did monsters, donkey kong, yoshi, Mario, hiccups and ministry and had good pizza in pizza moon
Found the CMs to be very helpful too
We are not back til December 2026 at the earliest and I expect by then the teething issues will have been resolved and less crowds maybe.

Sounds like you got to experience quite a bit! Good to hear!

Following this thread with interest. Going in August unexpectedly so I hadn't even considered Epic Universe so know very little (wasn't even planning Florida this year!) but I will be on my own.

I remember how busy IoA was when I went a year after it opened so I'm trying to manage my expectations.

You would think with there original US park only a handful of rides have to close in bad weather they should have known that with the Hurricanes and thunderstorms nearly everyday that a mostly outdoor park can never be a all round year park.

They are still a year round park- its not like they have to close for days on end (outside of a hurricane hitting Orlando) might be the odd time when a storm lasts for a good few hours but in most cases it’s lasts an hour or so max. I believe for example Disney world has only closed 10 times due to hurricanes since they opened in 1971

Wouldn’t matter if indoor or outdoor all the parks close if a Hurrucane hits. They also have IOA which is similar in terms of outdoor rides and alot of the park has to close during storms. I go in August and yes a pain when they close most of the rides at IOA due to an afternoon storm it normally only a short period of a day that it effects things out of 8am-9/10pm day that they are open to in summer. Some days doesn’t even cause any issues.

Ideally though they would have added some more indoor rides though, but Universal are aware of the impact as have operated a park like IOA that also has alot of outdoor rides for 26 years.

By about 7 last night there were only 3 rides open. We'd been in since 4.45 as we can't go in for long due to dd's health and had only managed mine-cart madness for dd and dh using her acces pass and dh went on monsters single rider. Many were due to weather delays, but werewolf and stardust didn't open at all yesterday. Ministry was delayed despite saying virtual queue and they weren't letting anyone through to look at the queue. This was our 2nd attempt at the park and although it went better than the first (where we left after 1 ride due to me being ill) it is not what you expect when they're less than 2 weeks from opening. I think they're really going to struggle once they're at capacity. Even the How to train your dragon show had technical difficulties and after the first bit we were left waiting for them to sort it. Guest services were very good and have refunded us. They said it's been a difficult week, and one cast member even suggested they may get rid of virtual line for ministry as the feedback is it's not working. We pointed out it would be better if the app told you when times were all gone as many don't even make it to the party size screen and keep sitting there checking just in case and the app should also say whether the queue is available to walk through. We did then luckily manage to get dh and dd on hiccups just as the park was closing and dd and I rode yoshi. The park looks even better at night and we enjoyed the fountain show, but I'm not sure it has enough indoor stuff to satisfy the crowds, and it is very spaced out for those with accessibility issues, especially when you have to visit the attractions to get a return time. Hopefully things will improve for those going soon.

I visited yesterday the park is really good, there isn’t much shade but enough shops and places to eat if you want a bit of shade and air con. We had a nice jacket potato and chicken skewer in the monsters land a bit pricey but nice food and more healthy option which was good. We only managed two rides as quite a few were closed yesterday. The Frankenstein ride was good it said a 45 minute wait but it didn’t feel that long. We also managed the Fyre Drill ride which was fun. Tried to get on the HP ride but would get halfway through VQ booking and get kicked out.

It’s a great park it was a shame we didn’t do more rides but some were closed and some had huge queues so we left them. Glad we got to see it.

Only managed two rides? About £50 a ride.

I’n holding off booking tickets until last minute to see how things go once the crowds arrive in June.

Speaking to a yank at our bar at Surfside she told us they had visited Epic and apart from a couple of rides (ministry and werewolf) they managed everything... only disappointment was meeting toothless never dropped below 2 hours.

I’m a bit worried about the potential for VQs for the portals. Forked out for express passes to maximise number of rides we can try, but if you can only access portal if you have a VQ, that’s a bit off! We’ll see what happens.

Yeah I don’t get that either. We have express for one day but how will that work if you can’t access the area seems a bit of a rip off
