Started the day at 05:00, early morning walk with Alfie (the dog). A beautiful morning and amazing sunrise. We were an hour into the walk and I suffered what at the time I can only describe as being the exact symptoms of a stroke. The whole left hand side of my body started tingling, went numb and my tongue felt like it had swollen resulting in slurred incomprehensible speech. There was nobody around, it was me and the dog… I couldn’t get my phone out my pocket then when I did it just dropped to the floor. Eventually picked it up and somehow managed to talk to a 999 call handler. A number of cars passed by and ignored the bloke sat on his ≈≈≈≈, slumped against a wall with a dog sat protecting him! Eventually a volunteer advanced first responder turned up shortly followed by the ambulance…. A passer who stopped managed to get hold of my wife, Dave the first responder took Alfie home and I went to hospital.
To cut a long story short, after 10 hours in resus and majors, an MRI, blood tests and consultations with the stroke consultant and neurology consultant it was determined not to be a stroke or TIA. Ultimately not 100% certain, but suspect it’s linked to my migraines and that my usual pattern of aura type migraines has maybe progressed!

So a dam scary day, but very pleased with the work of the NHS.
My thought for the day is live life to the full and do what makes you happy.
OMG what an awful thing to happen to you I’m so glad you’re ok & it wasn’t a stroke
Shame no one helped you at first though 😢
Take care & take it easy 👌

Glad you’re ok. Mrs Wazza had similar last year, similar symptoms to a stroke but only lasted about half an hour.

She was booked to see the specialist at 11:30 following day.

She was seen by specialist dead on 11:30, had an mri, a second meeting with the specialist and were back in the car to go home in less than 2 hrs. It was a severe migraine
