Mobility scooter rental if staying at disney

We will be staying for the first week of our holiday at old key west and I will be needing a mobility scooter for the duration. I have just read that Disney will only accept certain companies and if I use an outside company I will need to arrange a collection. Is this still the case?

Yes I believe so but no doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong! It should work like this - if you use the Disney preferred companies they can deliver to your hotel and have your scooter there for you when you arrive - they leave it with Bell Services and will pick it up from there if you wish at the end of your stay. However I do believe that you can use other companies who can deliver to Disney resorts but you have to be there to actually take delivery and be there to hand it back when you leave. As the prices are very similar I am using Buena Vista Scooters (Disney recommended) sommy scooter will be still POFQ when I get there.

Yes you need a Disney approved company. They are listed on disneys website if you have a wee look.

We always use Apple Scooters who are Disney approved.

We used Walker Mobility previously and had to be there when they dropped off and picked up but I think they are on the approved list (never checked to be honest)

Sorry, but the previous two posts aren't true.

Disney will not let anyone drop scooters to the parks, even their own approved renters, unless there is a faulty scooter in which case people have to meet them at the entrance.

Nearly all the non-'approved' hirers will drop scooters to you and collect from you - you just have to be there (ie they won't leave it at bell services or collect it from there).

I hire from Florida Mobility Rentals all the time (have booked them for our 4th trip). Depending on where you stay they will even bring the scooter to the building you're staying in. I've had one delivered to our room at CBR and OKW. The only place they can't do that for is a standard hotel. In that case, you meet them in the lobby for delivery and collection.

I'd rather save over £100 than have the privilege of having the scooter there when I arrive. I like the personal contact with the delivery guys - I like to ask questions and it's good to check the condition of the scooter when it's delivered. I also like to have a de-brief with Cliff when he collects it at the end of our holiday.

Sorry to argue but my post IS correct!

If you get a scooter from a Disney approved rental company then you do not need to be present at the hotel for them to drop off. We do this and collect from bell services.

If you get a scooter from non Disney approved then you must be present for drop off and pick up.

The OP didn't mention getting it dropped at the park they talked about their hotel.

We are here now and opted for Buena Vista scooters. It was waiting for us when we arrived and will be picked up after we leave.
Very tatty thing it is though but DH says it's comfy and it gets him around the parks.
