You will be fine to send your husband and son away whilst you waited in line and then get them to join you, its not as if by having them in your photo will take any extra time than if it was just you in the photo. If anyone says anything then thats on them and not you and i'm sure if you were to explain it to them they would immediately apologise. Its not as if you're all cutting the line etc. Just like if someone went to the bathroom or to get a drink etc... it happens.

When I met them last year I joined the queue about 5pm and was out at 6.20pm so well before the party started. I accept that's not ideal but if there's a group of you you could take turns waiting - in the queue last year people were going out for food and stuff and no one minded that people were coming and going before the characters appeared.
Did they check you had valid entry for the Halloween party to do this? From what I understand if you dont have tickets you can stay til 7pm so could non special ticket holders still meet them?

(If so I think that is unfair but then dopey is my absolute fave and if I can avoid paying an extra lump sum I would be up for trying this 😄 )

We've never known them be out before 7pm on a party night . The queue starts around 5pm.

We have the same issues and I would love to do this meet and greet but I just could't put my son through the wait time. Even with me waiting in the queue my husband would find it very hard to entertain our two children for that long.

What I was going to try to do was hang out at the party as late as we possibly can with a three year old and on the way out pass the meet and greet and see what the queue is like then. I have heard that sometimes the queue can have died down but it all depends on the party might. If my son is in the mood and it isn't too long a wait then I might join it. Sometimes, and its quite rare, if my son can see what we are waiting for he can be OK ish. With everything crossed lol

We also got to the queue approx 5pm last year. Dh, dd and ds were in and out of the queue for the 1st hour whilst i stayed. 7 dwarfs came out approx 6 and we were done by 6.30. I can't remember if anyone did check on our wrist bands but maybe they did without us knowing!

Going again this year but not going to do the 7 dwarfs again. Hoping to enjoy a few fp as this is our only disney day!

Yes...the thought of hubby having to entertain him plus our lively 3yo for 2 hours on his own also worries me. I wondered about leaving it until the last thing we do. We are taking a double pram with us so the boys may well fall asleep in which case I'll queue. I'm really grateful for Disneys DAS, but, I wish there was a way thy could apply it to things like this...my son with autism is not a "big ride" fanatic, so we don't need fastpasses for things like the mountains and Everest etc, but he loves the characters...and I see rare moments of joy on his face when he meets them..I'd forego all my ride fastpasses for character fastpasses in a heartbeat..the lines for characters can get so long, often in heat, and with no respite

I totally agree with this. We are also going to hire a double buggy but I doubt my little lady will sleep in it
