New Re-fillable mugs restrictions on trial at ...

New dispensers have been installed at Disney's All Star Sports which restrict which mugs they will dispense to/and duration.

The new re-fillable mugs contain RFID chips which inconjunction with the new dispensers will only allow mugs purchased during your cuurent stay to dispense anything other than just water and ice. This will also apply to single use cups as well. So no more brining back last years mugs to get free drinks..

Good to hear-about time they done something about this .Sick and tired of seeing people bringing back their mugs from donkeys years ago and refilling them .

If you can pay thousands on a holiday to Florida,then you can afford a few more $$ to pay for a mug.

We would love the idea of a re-fillable mug that could be used in the park as we are staying off site this time.

Does anyone have any idea how this system will work with split stays?

We have never bought a refillable mug before as usually we hop around offsite and cruising etc so have never been onsite long enough to really use it, but next year we are totally onsite at WDW, but are splitting between 2 hotels - As the mugs are now generic I was told it was acceptable in this instance to use it for the whole trip - but perhaps this might now present a problem?

As its only at All Star Sports at the moment it won't be a problem but how it will work when/if its rolled out to other resorts is anybodies guess.

So how do they programme your length of stay as people can be there for anywhere between a night to 3-4 weeks?

I think it would definitely be a welcome change. So many people have been using the drinks refill machines without a valid mug for years.

I wonder how much the extra drinks actually cost Disney v the cost of installing the new dispensers?

I agree with this too, some people do take advantage. We always purchase new ones every visit but seen people last time (2009) with 1999 mugs
