Walt Disney World Ends 2011 with a Bang

One of the most spectacular firework shows can be viewed at Walt Disney World Resort on New Years Eve. Fireworks and nighttime shows will light up the skies and create a mood of celebration at Disney's Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios, while revelry of other sorts takes place elsewhere throughout Walt Disney World Resorts.

what’s in store:

Magic Kingdom presents a double helping of pyrotechnics: “Wishes” nighttime spectacular with a holiday overlay at 8:30 p.m. and “Fantasy in the Sky” at 11:51 p.m.

Epcot‘s “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” delights revelers with a salute to the new year at 7 p.m. and 11:42 p.m.

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the 25-minute spectacular “Fantasmic!” that combines water, fire, lights, lasers, fireworks and music will be presented at 6:30 and 8 p.m., with the popular “Lights! Camera! Happy New Year!” fireworks display at midnight.

At DisneyQuest, located at Downtown Disney, there is a family-friendly cyber celebration from 8 p.m. -1 a.m. Kids are entertained with a DJ and dance party, plus unlimited access to all the games and DisneyQuest attractions including Buzz Lightyear’s Astroblasters, Virtual Jungle Cruise and CyberSpace Mountain. There’s a confetti drop and festive party favors as the clock strikes midnight. Partygoers also get a coupon for a pizza, hot dog, chicken casesar wrap or hamburger, plus chips and soda. Price is $45 advance purchase – or $55 day of, including tax. Call 407-934-7639 to reserve tickets.

At Cirque du Soleil, located at Downtown Disney, all guests attending the Dec. 31 performances will receive a limited-edition Walt Disney World/Cirque trading pin. Shows are at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. For pricing contact 407/WDW/SEAT

Registered guests at select Disney resort hotels will be treated to music and entertainment. "Cyber celebration"?! Oy-yoi-yoi the Disney marketing guys may have been knocking back a bit too much of the Bristol Cream when they wrote this. It all sounds like fun though

It was the same again today. Went to HS very early to use fastpasses we were given from DVD and most of them had already gone so we left at 11ish. As we were leaving we were told that they were now closing to new guests and Magic Kingdom/Animal Kingdom had already shut.

We've decided to change our plans for the rest of the week as Disney is no fun at the moment.

Um, guys ... you do realise that if you are on the front page of the Forums, this thread title reads as:

"Walt Disney World ends 2011"

I'm sure I wasn't the only one who was temporarily worried...!

Us too! We were in Epcot for opening and Soaring' fast pass was already sitting at 10pm. Gave up and headed back to AKL (enjoying the free wifi as I type).

We were in Epcot at 7.30am on 31st. Had done soarin by 8am and fast passed it for 1040am return, then did test track... q for about 40 mins at this point. Returned to do soaring and then mission space. Did the three major rides and thennorway and mexico water rides. Walked round, took in the atmosphere. Slept on floor in cool club for hour or so, went for ADR in Mexico at 630pm. Got a window table so we would c the fireworks at 7pm.
Walked Bout and sat on the grass waiting for midnight to arrive...
Loved every minute of our day,re named ourselves hobos as was funny just sleeping on a floor

We was in our beds at all star music resort by 1am.
Manic kingdom closed at 10.30 am as did Epcot.

I went to 'manic' kingdom and it certain was that but it was good fun all the same. Main street was packed so ended up watching the midnight fireworks 'backstage' behind Man Street so the view was just as good if not slightly better because there were no trees or garlands of decorations to spoil the view.
